Overview

iBox oblique view

The I-Box is a hardware platform designed for digital video surveillance applications. It was designed, and prototypes were manufactured (including BGA IC placement) in-house at ERTOS. The design is generally based on the PLEB 2 platform. Despite having been designed for video surveillance, the components in the iBox form the basis of a typical embedded system.

Key technical features:

The I-Box ran the L4/Iguana operating system. L4/Iguana runs on most embedded platforms that have an MMU, and the PXA270 is well supported. Wombat (the now unmaintained paravirtualised Linux) could also be used to provide device drivers, or support for legacy software.
